Amazing Ice Hotel Quebec – Hotel de Glace
Step into a magical land of surreal at the Ice Hotel in Quebec, Canada — also known as Hotel de Glace — one of the world’s most unique attractions. It takes 400 tons of ice and 12,000 tons of snow each year to create this enchanting palace of white.

The ice walls are covered with brightly colored artwork, and dramatic ice sculptures light the way to the numerous areas, including the frozen vodka bar with its decorative fireplaces where even the bar and glasses are made of ice.

Imagine a romantic sled ride through the woods on a lit pathway or relaxing in a luxurious Nordic spa between the snowy hills and a frozen lake beneath the stars.
There is even a chapel where lovers in love come to get married for an exotic, fairy-tale wedding experience.

Breathtaking works of art have been created within the hotel’s vicinity during the Arts of Winter Festival, founded by Serge Péloquin, president of Allumeurs d’étoiles, which is comprised of three parts — Interior Ice Architectural Design, Ice Sculpting, and Ice Painting Symposium.
Quebec City is very French. The entire province of Quebec is North America’s most French place to live. And the Ice Hotel makes it one of Canada’s most incredible world-wide wonder destinations that defies the limits of the imagination.
But it all melts away each year on April Fool’s Day. The 9th season of the Ice Hotel will run from January 4th through March 29th 2009.

I remember originally reading a small blurb about this hotel on Yahoo news about the 10 most unique hotels in the world. You’ve provided better insight than that article. And pictures.
The attention to detail from the walls, to the chairs, to the sculptures is amazing in Hotel de Glace Quebec.
Thanks Gus, glad it was helpful to you
It truly is, Funny
It’s a beautiful hotel. I’ve wanted to go there for a while. I saw a documentary about it sometime last year and found it fascinating.
I took a look at the website – I think they could have started there season earlier this year what with all the snow we had in Eastern Canada! Considering it’s a luxury, and once in a life time experience the prices aren’t unreasonable.
Great photos BTW
WOW…is definitely on my travel list this year
That place is insane! I bet it’s freezing in there, but it would be an amazing experience to see it. My favorite is the flame shaped bed.
Great to see you Tricia
You’re certainly a lot closer than I am, I hope you can make it to take in the experience. I think it would be well worth it. it’s a much further trek for me to make any time soon
Sorry to hear you’ve had so much snow, but it must have been great for the winter tourism. Indeed, the photos are amazing!
The season typically begins early January each year, Martin. Hope you make it, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed
That’s what the furs and blankets are for, General
There are some European ice hotels as well, and it’s been noted that guests there typically spend 1 night in the ice hotel, and the rest of their vacation in non-ice, heated rooms at another complex on-site.
I will definitely consider this hotel for my future vacation plans:)
I don’t think that you would regret it, Martin
The hotel seems to be very nice and beautiful. I would like to go there for my vacations. The pics are very nice and hope it would be of great excitement.
It’s beautiful. Staying there would be a unique experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Being a Quebecois myself, I would certainly encourage you all to go and visit. In fact, I am going to old Quebec city for the holidays this year.
Kudos to you and your friend for highlighting one of the wonders of my native province!

It’s an incredible and unique hotel, Alain
Part of the intrigue is also that it’s reconstructed into something new every year
Have a wonderful holiday
My husband, son and I visited the Hotel in March of 2008. What a totally unique experience! We didn’t stay overnight but just touring the facility was fascinating and unforgetable.
