I actually have done Job #2 and as for pay, it depends on your quality of Horse and type. If my Appaloosa Stud named "Machine" in-vitro fertilizes a female with my Samples, well not mine but Machines I get $5,000 up-front and another $5,000 on a successful healthy birth. I have 3 Studs so it adds up but you have to pay quite a bit for a near perfect Stud, and he has to "Perform".
We do it different than they describe though. The "Artificial Vagina" goes into the Female, it has a cord hanging out and a plastic rim at the top to prevent it from going into her. The Stud mounts her and usually only takes 2-3 seconds and he is finished and backs off. We grab the cord, slide it out and take the pint or so to the lab to process. Before this method, they did it the old fashioned way. I think I would hire someone then!

"Of the billion or so golf balls produced each year, it’s estimated that as many as 1 to 3 million find their way into water hazards that plague everyday golfers in the U.S."

Yes, the job itself is weird, but the above statement is BS. That is saying that out of every 1000 golf balls produced, on1y 1-3 balls end up "permanently" in the drink. I know from personal experience that it's a WAY higher percentage than that...and I'm a halfway decent player, at least. I can't think of any other factors that could significantly decrease the percentage, either (designated range balls, "non-U.S.", courses without water hazards, etc.).

And who estimates how many balls end up in the drink, anyway? That's a job I could handle, for sure...
