Body Armor for Dogs and Owners Alike
Welcome back!
You wouldn’t think of a pit-bull in need of body armor, but one quirky craftsman named Andy has designed just that. The American dog-lover has created a range body armor for pit-bill dogs of steel, aluminum, and nearly ‘indestructible plastic.’
The doggy armor is specifically designed for pit-bull shaped dogs around 65 pounds (30 kilos), but if your best friend doesn’t happen to fit that bill, Andy can design a custom suit fitted for your favorite pooch. Prices range anywhere from $70 US for a backplate and leather breastplate, up to $500 for the top of the line full armor.
But the armory line doesn’t end there — Andy also creates armor for men and women complete from head to toe, as well as for horses and squirrels, with a designer line for gerbils soon underway. Actually, he’s only kidding about the latter labels.
Squirrel armor includes helm, pauldrons, backplate, steel collar, vambraces, and cuisses.

“I build armor for people because I like the positive feedback I get from them and I like to work with my hands.” he says. “I enjoy what I do and it shows in my work.”
The women’s line begins at $85 for a Cold Metal Bra custom built for size if required, breast plates for $180, and Women’s Cuirass — a breastplate and backplate strapped together into one piece of armor — for about $275.
Toiling from his workshop called the Pit Bull Armory, Andy has but one apprentice named Spok who doesn’t appear to do a whole lot to pull his own weight aside from modeling. “You can see the apprentice slacking there on the right.” says Andy. “What a pillar of support.”

I once went to an Armor Museum in Graz, Austria. They had a huge selection of armor and weapons.(largest in the world) Authentic stuff from the (16-17th century) medieval days. Most impressive was the Horse armor. But they had armor and weapons from the period in vast quantities. And all the swords,Pikes, mauls, battleaxes, ect, ect. Very cool to look at. Andy would have a field day at that Museum.
Here’s the link Andy, in case you’re interested.

What a crazy things! I wonder who has a better fun, Andy or people who want to buy it?:) Or maybe this squirrel has?:>
I don’t think pit-bull will love having body armors with them. I guess, it’s too heavy for them! But Andy, you got an amazing hobby!
I wonder if he can still lift a leg to pee?
Just as long as he doesn’t sell to Michael Vick.
Some incredible photos, Nitropuppy. It looks amazing. Unfortunately the site is in Austrian and I couldn’t read up about it, but it must be quite something to see live.
Hehe, good question JTM, although I don’t think it’s the squirrel, considering it isn’t alive to enjoy it
Apparently the black armour is very light-weight, Martin.
I’ll leave that to someone better informed to answer that, Webrunner
I think any dog with this armor may have stood a better chance up against Michael Vick, Jacqui
Just the mention of his name makes my skin crawl.
Andy should contact the Clinton Campaign Team posthaste. Hillary has always been in a fighting stance and combative. She needs to be suited up with one of these. LOL!
–Durano, done!
Now-a-days modern body armor may combine a ballistic vest with other items of protective clothing, such as a helmet. Vests intended for police and military use may also include ballistic shoulder armor for more protection and leg armor for protection against grenade blasts.
Hahaha, you should be working for Hillary’s promotional team, Durano
Interesting info, Matt, thanks!
Fantastic!!! I love peaople with so great and some kind of weird ideas:) Nice job!
He’s certainly creative, Alee
Thank you guys for your positive words. My dog armor was mostly made just for my dog because I wanted to have his suit stand by mine and my wifes forever. Michael Vick should be used for fertilizer.
Thank you
Andy
Thanks so much for your visit, Andy
Your work is very impressive. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been under the weather for a while here.
As for Michael Vick, I don’t think there’s a punishment strong enough for him.
All the best to you!
I wonder how restrictive that would be!
Very cool find. I’ve seen the standard issues K9 bulletproof vests, but nothing to this extreme. Are there any videos of his dogs in action while wearing the armor?
that’s really funny. especially the metal bra.
It’s a very interesting subject I was looking around about more information but you got really what i was looking for in your article so thanks and keep it up you have a great blog , by the way Graz is a very lovely city I enjoyed it so much
