For what may appear to be near-impossible, limbo-skating — roller skating under cars — is the latest rage in India, requiring the flexibility, strength and balance of a gymnast. Wonder-kid Aniket Chindak holds the unofficial world record for ‘limbo-skating’ beneath 57 cars, and plans to break his own March 2007 record with a 100-car skate in New Delhi.

With legs split, chest bent forward and chin nearly skimming the ground, Aniket is no more than 8 inches (20 centimeters) above the road when he vanishes beneath the vehicles. Even the minutest error can leave skaters with serious injuries.

The 6 year old spends 4 hours a day training for the eye-watering Indian craze.

Aniket now believes he’s built up enough strength and flexibility to take the sport to the higher level. “The hardest thing is to go fast enough before I bend down, because that’s how you can skate under so many cars at once.” he said.

He had been roller skating since he was 18 months old, and took up limbo skating 2 years ago.

“I first saw a girl skate under a car on television 2 years ago and decided to learn how to do it myself. It took 3 months before I could get my body in the right position.” Aniket said. “Since then, I have skated under lots of cars and have never hurt myself.”

According to his father Ramesh from Belgaum in southern India, the skating marvel has been covering 60 miles twice a week, practicing for the past 3 years to get in perfect condition for his record attempt, and sulks when he’s told to finish.

“Aniket was always very flexible but for limbo skating you need strength as well.” Ramesh said.

“It took him a while to condition his body to hold the correct position. Now his battle is to get the speed and control for 100 cars.”

“He wants to set a world record no one can beat for a long time.”

  7. I’d like to see him try getting under a Lamborghini. I’ve only been blogging since January, and I have a question about something. I tried looking it up on Google, but I still don’t really understand it. You have a link that says “Do Follow”…how does this benefit the site? Does it increase spam to your site? I have WordPress and I think I read that WordPress has “No Follow”. Anyway, I was just wondering what you could tell me.
