Loch Ness Monster Caught on Video
Welcome back!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, an amateur scientist has recorded what is being touted as the finest video footage ever taken of the elusive mythical creature Loch Ness, reputed to swim beneath the waters of Scotland’s most mysterious lake of the same name.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this jet black thing, about 45 feet (15 meters) long, moving fairly fast in the water.” said Gordon Holmes, a lab technician from Shipley, Yorkshire, who took the video last Saturday.
He said it moved at about 6 mph (10 kph) and maintained a relatively straight course.
“My initial thought is it could be a very big eel, they have serpent-like features and they may explain all the sightings in Loch Ness over the years.”
APP — Yahoo News reports Loch Ness is the largest and deepest inland expanse of water in Britain — approximately 750 feet (230 meters) to the bottom.

Nessie watcher and marine biologist Adrian Shine of the Loch Ness 2000 center in Drumnadrochit, viewed the video and hopes to properly analyze it in the upcoming months.
“I see myself as a skeptical interpreter of what happens in the Loch, but I do keep an open mind about these things and there is no doubt this is some of the best footage I have seen.” Shine said.
He said the video is particularly useful because Holmes panned back to get the background shore into the shot. That means it was less likely to be a fake and provided geographical bearings allowing one to calculate how big the creature was and how fast it was traveling.
While many sightings of Nessie can be attributed to a few brew too many, legends of such monsters date back to one of the founders of the Christian church in Scotland, St. Columba, who wrote about them in 565 AD.
There have been more than 4,000 reported Loch Ness monster sightings since she was first caught on camera by a surgeon in 1930.
Since then, the firm believers have speculated whether it is a completely unknown species, a sturgeon, or even a surviving dinosaur.
“There are a number of possible explanations to the sightings in the Loch. It could be some biological creature, it could just be the waves of the Loch or it could be a psychological phenomenon for which we see what we want to see.” he said.
But Nessie isn’t just an icon of the paranormal — she’s also an emblem of Scottish tourism.
The Scottish media is skeptical of Loch Ness monster stories but the quality of Holmes’ footage is so good that even BBC Scotland aired the video on its main news program on Tuesday.
Also on Thursday, a group of Scottish business owners launched a bid to nominate Loch Ness for World Heritage site to protect the area for future generations.
While we can’t bring the exclusive video to you, we’ve found some very interesting and rather convincing evidence of biological life in the depths of Loch Ness.

If it does exist I wonder how it manages to survive without being seen blatantly until now.
I dunno … ever since I saw the movie, “Anaconda” I have been leary of inland water spots such as the place where the Loch Ness monster is living. The recent footage reminded me of the anaconda snake in the movie more than an eel … shivers …
peace, Villager
I know, for somebody sounds stupid; but since i saw the film “the white shark” (the german titel) i dont swimming in the lake – and in the sea: i do not go more deeply then my thigh.
I saw this movie as i was 10 or 12 years old or something, one of my bigest mistake . . .
Looks like a giant snake. Anyways, Loch Ness monster rocks!. Whenever I think of it I get the picture of a Happy Ness monster in my head, maybe I saw a cartoon or something about it
. Cool post.
Well I have the feeling that if there is a Nessie, she’s a very timid creature, not one to be feared. If she had been agressive we would have heard of the violent activities.
I don’t discount that she does exist. Just in the past couple of weeks scientists have discovered more than 700 new forms of life that we were unaware of in the deep Arctic waters.
If you watch Part 4 of the video in this post, you’ll see that they’ve also discovered new forms of life living on the bottom of Loch Ness. The waters are so deep there that the discoveries are very recent.
There’s a lake in the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia called Okanogan Lake. There is a myth that a similar creature to Nessie exists in the deep waters as well. She’s known as Ogo Pogo. There have been similar sightings as well, but she’s not was world renowned as Nessie.
Yeah i immediately thought of the one in B.C. too*
OkiePogee – glad U remembered da name!!
Hey Deborah,
The contest will end on Jun 6, 2007 by 11:59PM. Yes, a free shirt, and a review about your website if you become the winner. More details on the entry. Thanks and Good luck!
Andy, No worries, I wasn’t really attempting to win a shirt, just merely commenting that your little trick worked to get me to get me to investigate
All the best with reaching your goals of selling 1 million t-shirts.
I for one hope that Nessie is never really ‘discovered’ totally. Humans are so dumb and no doubt they would try to kill it somehow.
It is a great tourist attraction, and that is good for the region. That’s enough for me, and I don’t even live in Scotland.
Hmm….
Nessie was “proved” to be a hoax some years back, but I believe she’s real. I agree with webduck, humans are so stupid that they’d probably try to kill her.
I tend to agree with the both of you, but I think that it would happen indirectly … they’d attempt to capture her, and if they were to succeed, it would surely be a slow death living in captivity.

well some people say it is really and some don`t but i do belive that nessie is real
OK…people nessie??….NOT REAL!!! thts the exact loch where they would train the elephants!!! the elephants would breath through their own trunk. so “nessie” must be either an elephant or elephant remains. (:
