Michael Bridges — expect the unexpected. Michael’s paintworks have an exciting surrealistic blend of nature with objects out of the ordinary that just ‘don’t fit’, yet in a very curious manner through color and design, they do.
I stumbled across Michael Bridges’ website purely by accident. I recognized this up and coming artist’s talent at once for his incredible potential, and asked him if he would like to be featured. The exceptionally humble artist gladly accepted and has waited patiently since.
Bio:
Born and currently living in Columbus Ohio, Michael Bridges is a self-taught artist, who displayed a talent for art from an unusually early age.
Michael drew comic book characters and comic books from elementary school through to junior high. Once he reached senior high, Michael ‘discovered’ Salvadore Dali, and realized he had found the niche where his heart laid — in surrealism.
Michael Bridges went on to win several awards, and an honorable mention in national ‘Artist Magazine’.
His creative interests aren’t limited to painting fine art — he is also a self-taught musician, playing in bands performing his self-written songs on stage.
Michael returned to his early roots for comic art in 1997 when he published his own comic book. His future plans are to publish a comic book on CD rom which will include his own works of 3D animation.
I have to say, I admire this artist’s entrepreneurial spirit in addition to his artwork, united with his humble demeanor. That in itself is extraordinarily inspiring.
Bird Watcher

Michael appears to have a penchant towards cats, as he has an entire page of paintings devoted to them, for you cat lovers with an appreciation for art.
I’ve saved my favorite for last. There is an overwhelming message in this painting … the manner in which the man holds his jacket tucked beneath his arm while the pair count their earnings, in a tight line formation waiting to receive their pay … it speaks volumes. It almost has a Haitian art flair to it — one of my favorite stylings of artwork. While I was once in Dominican Republic I brought home as much as I could stuff in my suitcase.
Michael Bridge’s Artist Statement
“My biggest influence as a surrealist is Salvador Dali, as he is for many surrealists and on surrealism in general. If it weren’t for Dali, I would probably not be painting now.â€?
“Other influences are Rene Magritte and presently a French surrealist, Roland Heyder.
“I think art should say something, it should make you wonder, not just repeat what you can already see … surrealism does that. That is why I call it unreal realism.â€?
If you would like to contact, view or purchase his artwork, Michael Bridges can be reached at his website.

the technique is excellent……Dali was my hero when I was at art school and these paintings are really unique and give an entirely different slant on the surrealist viewpoint….very clever indeed !!!!

Veo que te gusta mucho el subrealismo. Salvador Dalà era uno de sus maximos exponentes.
