Mr Bean Holiday Movie
Welcome back!
Mr. Bean’s Holiday movie starring Rowan Atkinson premiered at Leicester Square’s Odeon in London on Sunday, March 25th and helped to raise money for both Comic Relief and the Oxford Children’s Hospital Appeal charity. Tagline for the movie is “Disaster has a Passportâ€?.
It’s just not fair! It isn’t slated to open in the U.S. until August 28 2007, and September 28 in Canada. Snifffff.
Spoiler alert! We’ve got the scoop — Mr. Bean wins a church raffle for a camcorder, and a vacation train trip. He arrives in Paris where he has difficulty with the language.
Bean misses his first train to the south of France, giving him an hour to sample French seafood cuisine. He has difficulty swallowing the oysters – he pretends he’s eating them by pouring the oysters onto his napkin and then disposing of them into a lady’s handbag.
Just before catching his train, he asks Emil, a Russian film director on his way to be a judge at the Cannes Film festival to use his camcorder to record his boarding. Bean accidentally causes Emil to be left behind at the station.
Bean attempts to cheer up the directors’ son Stepan, left onboard the train by himself, but matters get worse — Emil has reported that his son has been kidnapped, and Bean loses his wallet and essential travel documents at a pay phone where he and Stephan attempt to contact Emil, and they’re forced off the train.
Bean makes some money by begging and miming, and buys the pair bus tickets to Cannes. He promptly loses his own ticket and falls asleep from walking after trying to hitchhike there.
He wakes up on what appears to be a quaint French village but is actually a film set for a yoghurt advert. Bean ends up as an extra in the advert, directed by the egotistical director Carson Clay, but inadvertently ends up destroying the set.
He and Stepan catch a ride with actress Sabine who is heading to Cannes to attend the premiere of Clay’s film, in which she appears.
When Sabine goes into a gas station to change, she sees a newsflash — Mr. Bean is suspected of kidnapping Stepan, and she’s a suspected accomplice. Since she doesn’t want to miss the presentation of the film in Cannes in just one hour, she doesn’t want to go to the police now to clear the misunderstandings.
Therefore they have to work out a way to get into Cannes without being identified. Stepan dresses up as a girl while Mr. Bean dresses up as Stepans’ grandmother. They manage to get through the search and Sabine arrives at the premiere on time.
After Bean sneaks into the showing, his camcorder images are fated to liven up the event. End of spoiler alert.
