DNA_ArtYou can now own a picture rarer than a Van Gogh, Picasso or Monet, and at a fraction of the price using your own DNA. Experts have found a way to blend art with science and transform your unique DNA code onto canvas.

Most of us wouldn’t have a clue what our DNA code looks like, let alone have it hanging on a wall at home.

But now, Metro says a company is offering an affordable way to admire your unique DNA, impress your friends, and make you the envy of your adversaries — provided of course that the cat isn’t let out of the bag where to purchase one for themselves.

Frank Scolaro, founder of DNAART UK, said, “Your DNA is your grand design — your genetic blueprint — so you can’t have a more real portrait of yourself or a loved one. It is a masterpiece that is actually you.â€?

To create a DNA piece of artwork, buyers must provide the company with their own genetic code, which is taken by rubbing a swab inside their mouth.

This is then sealed and shipped to the DNAART lab in the Netherlands, where scientists examine the code.

The company claims the process is strictly private and the DNA sample is destroyed after a person’s DNA strings have been identified.

Clients can choose to highlight specific genetic traits and the color of their canvas. There is also the option of combining two people’s DNA onto one canvas. Even a pet’s genetic blueprint can be transformed into a work of art.

If you’re a collector of crystal ornaments, you can even have DNA code inscribed inside a crystal sculpture to produce a hologram-like effect. Cool.

Prices range from:
$819 US for a small portrait
$1470 US for a large portrait
$2368 US for a crystal sculpture

Even that is out of this puppy’s snack bracket for a little piece of vanity.

Mr. Scolaro said, “We have had a fantastic response from all walks of life, especially people looking for a gift idea for someone who has everything.

Well, I guess there’s something to be said in that. Ever have a difficult time trying to find a gift for your parents at Xmas? I guess the first trick would be capturing their DNA unawares.

  1. I first heard of this on an episode of CSI NY believe it or not, talk about original a mural of the family would be cool I bet

  2. Tom, I must have missed that episode! I’m a CSI addict :-)

It certainly is an interesting concept. I like the fact that they’ll also do your pets!

  6. The DNA11 guys did do this before us that is correct. They are also based in Canada and seemed very threatened by a UK based company. Adrian also told a blatant lie that it was his art that appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. In fact it was ours and I can prove that.

It’s a shame we have to keep writing blogs in response to DNA11. They in fact were NOT the pioneers neither were we. We don’t want to take over the world and we certainly didn’t copy them. They offer art at a fraction of the price we do but they feel they have to offer FREE delivery to the UK…………..( FROM CANADA)!! Why are they so threatened by us??? Maybe it’s because ours is better perhaps??? Who knows, but I wish they wouldn’t keep bickering like infants.

We will keep fighting our corner in TRUE Britsh style. We will not be bullied from an over sensitive company director.

UK clients and also quite recently U.S customers are actually not too bothered about the price. WHAT THEY WANT IS TRUE UNIQENESS AND QUALITY AND THATS SOMETHING THAT WE OFFER.

Adrian, its back to you!!!!!! ;o)

  7. Frank and Adrian,

I am in no position to be making judgment calls on your art. You have a very interesting service / product that you provide.

Unless someone copyrights a product or service, there will always be others attempting to repeat your success. Trust me, there will be others that follow your initiatives if you’re successful.

All that I can say is that this blog is not the place for your companies to be airing your discrepancies.

People will say things in the heat of their passion, which may not leave a positive impression to others. The words are out there for the world to see and cannot be taken back.

I myself have my own business and have numerous competitors, but I will never bash any of them to the public at large; it does not bode for a good impression. Advertise and promote your product to the best of your abilities, provide the best service and product that you possibly can, provide your potential customers with your rates, and let the public at large make their own decisions for themselves.

I have no problem for you to promote your own companies by leaving contact information; let interested consumers make their own choices.

You are both obviously well aware of each other. I suggest that you communicate between yourselves where the general public is not out there to watch the battles.
