Science of the Confidence Factor
Welcome back!
Are you on the shy side and wish you had more confidence to approach people in social settings? Wish you could be the life of the party like your gregarious buddy instead of the lonely wallflower in the corner? Well pine no longer, help is on the way!

Doctors have invented a nasal spray that cures shyness. A squirt up the shnoz will get you high, shy guys and gals — in the confidence factor that is.
The Sun reports that the product known as Conk-quering spray emerged on Friday the 13th — an odd day for a product news release — after medics discovered a natural chemical that prevents inhibitions of introversion.
The discovery will enable sensitive types, empowering them with confidence before nerve-racking events such as public speaking, and boost one’s self-assurance to chat-up that person you’ve been admiring from across the room.
The spray harnesses the powers of a feel-good hormone that the body produces called
oxytocin, already known to promote an air of calmness.
Oxytocin is produced naturally by the body when a person is in love — that aura that one has when enamored. It also induces labor in pregnant women — so be forewarned if you’re already with child. The spray is manufactured with a synthetic version of the chemical, created in a laboratory that researchers at the University of Zurich spent almost a decade developing.
The team tested its effectiveness on 70 adults for a month who found socializing difficult for them.

It changed their behavior ‘dramatically’ — each individual lost their sense of anxiety and were able to engage better with others in the group. My take on this is it could also benefit those that suffer anxiety before an important interview or exam.
Further large-scale trials of the spray are in the works. If proven successful, you could expect the product to hit the general market within the next 5 years. The study was announced at the World Congress of Neuroscience in Melbourne.
Dr. Heinrichs said “The hormone had an effect on the part of the brain that controls fear response.” Fear factor, here I come!
“Suspending it in a nasal spray is the most effective method of delivery because it was absorbed into the body more rapidly.” he said.

where could that spray be bought? or is it available in the market already? It sounds promising…
No Ayel, it hasn’t been released to general market yet. The news of the product was just released, but it’s still undergoing testing, and is slated to hit the streets within 5 years.
I think that anything that would be considered a drug would have to undergo a lot of scrutiny, and have regulations that they’re required to pass.
hey its a kool discovery but then i wonder why not just have some beer and get all the self confidence.
why not save the discovery as a spray when u want someone to fall in love with u or be particulary nice to u ?
I think my friends would say: ‘please don’t use this spry’ as I am far too confident already. LoL
Haha, too funny Anupama! Plying oneself with booze certainly does work to lose a lot of inhibitions
I’m sure there could be some broad use for abuse with this stuff.
Renny, sounds like you don’t need any help, haha! That’s a good thing!
very funny photos Deborah…love the one with the beer and the spray…he’s obviously desperate…:)to get some confidence !!!
Jameson Whiskey, but it’s tough on the nose.
Kim, I think he’s trying to do double duty at once, haha. Could be a scary combination using a mood relaxer along with the loss of a person’s inhibitions that alcohol can bring!
Hahaha, I definitely don’t want to try that one up the nose Tom!
But they say it gets to the blood stream more directly, so I guess it depends how desperate you are
I’ll take mine with coke thanks.
probably i think this is amazing one,but this is instant cure only, to get out of this you have pay attention to the doctor predictions, have a nice day.
Yes, you’re right Generalized, it’s only a temporary cure. Paying close attention to your doctor’s advice is always highly important.
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH I need some ……now lol.
Just as well I won’t be in labour, I’d be worth fortune huh? Would be a backward child though lol.
Nice post Deborah, now mix that with a large brandy or whatever you fancy and God help the world
)
Colin, if you were with child, you’d be the very next thing I posted about! Hell, I’d even fly there to take pics.
Yup, booze + meds = 1 crazy loon. That reminds me about a post I wrote on Sleep Driving
Booze and meds don’t quite mix, that’s a damn shame….sometimes I really feel like having a decent drink, but not allowed to touch the stuff so I’ll stick to my coffee I think lol, and maybe, just maybe…I’ll be a crazy loon anyway!

Is there more information of this product?
I’m also a shy guy but when i drink some alcohol i’m not that shy anymore.
I am not sure it is a good idea to change people’s mood like this. It will become addictive.

If healthy people can use drugs like ritalin, normally prescribed for hyper active children, to improve their concentration then using a drug to improve confidence is little different.
