Each of the more than 100 sculptures at Bruno’s Art & Sculpture Garden bears uncanny symmetry in juxtaposition with nature as if they were one, as some sculptures even seemingly sprout from within trees and the earth itself to take on their own mystical life forms.

This magnificent setting with over 300 paintings and sculptures to discover is the brainchild and works of artist Bruno Torfs, located in the small Victorian village of Marysville, Australia.

Born in South America, Bruno lived there to the age of 15, when he and his family moved to Europe seeking new opportunities. There Bruno worked and trained as a sign writer until he ventured to become a full time artist, developing his own distinctive style filled with culture and character, selling his artworks during annual exhibitions hosted in the lower levels of the family home.

After traveling the world extensively, Bruno and his wife Marlene settled in Australia to create a sculpture garden in the local luscious sub-alpine forests.

What began with merely 15 life-sized terracotta sculptures has become one of Australia’s most exceptional attractions and experiences filled with more than 115 amazing pieces of sculpture and over 200 oil paintings and sketches, with regular additions of artworks created for the center to this day.

  10. I am ashamed to say that I have not heard of this place even though I only live a couple of hours drive away. William Rickett’s Sanctuary in the Dandenong Mountains near Melbourne is similar.

  36. Sadly they were badly hurt during the massive fires in February 2009. Most of the town was destroyed and nearly 40% of the sculptures destroyed as well.

The good news is 60% were not and they are rebuilding.
