The Titanic DNA Recycled
Welcome back!
Living in the material world — Romain Jerome’s Titanic DNA Watch takes recycling to the max, created from authentic parts of the legendary Titanic ocean liner that disappeared in 1912.
Some are designed with precious metals, others from rusted steel created by a unique fusion performed at the Harland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast, where the Titanic was built. This fusion unifies the authentic steel of the shipwreck, which laid on the ocean floor at a depth of 3’840 meters, and the memorial project that will take place in Belfast in 2012.
The hands are inspired by the anchor of the Titanic on a black watchface painted from lacquer made with coal recovered from the wreckage. The small second hand at 9 o’clock represents the meters of the ship’s steam engines. And least I forget, optional brilliant cut diamonds are available for the watchcase.
The Titanic DNA will be limited to a run of 2,012 watches to mark the 100th anniversary on April 14th 2012 of the sinking of the ship when it struck an iceburg on its journey to New York.
Ronaldo received the first Titanic-DNA watch, straight from the Geneva based Romain Jerome factory, presented by Yvan Arpa — CEO of the company and long-time fan — earlier in May this year in Milan.
The collection will hit the streets worldwide this month when you will be able to wear a piece of history on your wrist. Price range is expected to be anywhere from $7,800 to $173,000.

Good use for steel that will otherwise just rot away
best for you,
thanks for doing all this information and videos, I am really grateful for your interests. I was on the titanic and as you may figure out I am quite old. my name inst realy Rhys binns, as you may know that is a silly name but it covers me. I will post some information on because I know how the titanic sank because I was there, so to whom this may concern you may reply.
well all i can say is that the titanic was a very bad ship and i dont like talking about it now because my mum and dad died on that ship. i was in 3rd class and i was 7 years old and me and my mum got on a little boat, meanwhile my father was trapped in the titanic.i was very scared and my mum fell off the boat. i tried jumping in and savin her but it was too late and nobody would let me.
Hi ‘Rhys,’
I pretty well know who I’m talking to — if you are as you say — based on your comment, and the information that I emailed to you for my findings from my searches. But since you’ve chosen a pseudo name and wish for that to be left unsaid, I won’t mention it here, nor publish any of my findings. It’s rather easy to find anyway should one be curious enough to know.
At any rate, I take it that you don’t care to discuss this much further than what you’ve written here, since you are contacting me via comments on the blog in return. That actually reinforces what I read, that you have never granted interviews etc.
I am not a journalist in any respect as I mentioned to you, I simply have a blog that people seem to enjoy reading. So I won’t push you any further than what you wish to write, I’m not here to exploit you. I’m sure there are countless out there who would love to hear your story. But I realize that is probably forcing you to relive that fateful time of your life.
I can certainly understand how you feel to some degree, as I was unable to save my own father from his death. I do know that it was a highly traumatic experience for you, and that you may have also suffered some survivor’s guilt at some points in your life, and possibly still do.
Thank you for your comments and what you have shared here. It’s been a pleasure to hear from you.
I am amazed that they are allowed to use parts of the titanic for commercial products as I would have thought that it was to be preserved.
