The notorious Brazilian model Angela Bismarchi plans to dance near nude leading a 300 person drum corps in Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival parade next month, hopeful that her chiseled beauty as a ‘percussion queen’ will take her samba group to the championship.

But that’s not the only goal she has her eyes set on — Angela is having her 42nd plastic surgery, on tenterhooks to one day beat the Guinness World Record of 47 surgical procedures currently held by 52 year old American Cindy Jackson, who calls herself a “Living Doll.”
Merely days before Rio’s carnival begins February 2nd, Angela will have nylon wires implanted in her eyes to give them an Asian slant, in line with this year’s theme of her samba group, Porto da Pedra — the centennial of Japanese immigration to Brazil.

The 36 year old model admits she’s always been vain. Her husband is a plastic surgeon, and has operated on her 10 times at his medical clinic near Rio. “For Carnival, you have to feel especially pretty.” says Bismarchi.
In the image-crazed country — where even the poor buy surgical augmentations on installment plans — Angela’s shameless fervor for plastic and cosmetic surgery has made her a celebrity. Brazilians are unabashed to cosmetically augment their bodies, which are routinely exposed at Carnival and flaunted on the beach in thong bikinis so teeny they’re called dental floss.
Born poor in Rio, the striking 6 foot model had her first surgical procedure in 1992 after her daughter was born. She was depressed that nursing caused her breasts to sag at the young age of 21, so she had them lifted. Bismarchi became so enthralled with the results of the cosmetic surgery that her next TWO husbands were plastic surgeons.
“I put in a prosthesis and loved it. I was beautiful and sensual again.” Bismarchi said.

Angela has made a career of the Carnival in a sense, first making headlines in 2000, when police attempted to arrest her after she strutted her partly nude body painted with the Brazilian flag.
“I became famous all over.” she said. “The power of carnival is amazing.”
She paraded with the face of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva painted across her exposed body just 2 years later. Police released her after she defended that it was a gesture to Silva’s anti-hunger program.
Brazil’s Carnival has always been a raucous affair, and the beauty queen took it another step further last year when her only item of clothing — a small patch of glitter for a G-string — fell off mid-parade. Porto da Pedra was in jeopardy of a fine for total nudity, forbidden under parade rules. But the quick-witted model hid from the judges behind the drum section and changed her tiny ’sex cover,’ enabling her to wrap up the parade.
Angela now promotes an exclusive line of sexy lingerie, gives beauty tips and responds to up to 700 letters and e-mails daily. To keep her famous figure, she does 2.5 hours of exercise per day, takes dance lessons and spends hours tanning on the beach.
“I consider myself quite timid. I’m just a little girl grown big.” says Bismarchi. “I never imagined I would be famous. Things just happened.”

Well, good luck to your new surgery and more surgeries to come….:-)
Isn’t it unethical to operate on family members?? At least I think it is in the US.
It’s definitely unethical in the US to operate on family members, Jason. I’m not certain if that extends to cosmetic surgery or not. But this is in Brazil, so it’s an entirely different ballgame I would guess.
I thought that woman, the bride of wildenstein, had spent $2 mill on cosmetic surgery… isn’t that the most ever?
