World’s First 3D Face Recognition Camera with Authentication Program
Welcome back!
Like watching something from out of a sci-fi movie or Jetson’s cartoon, Bioscript Inc. has developed the world’s first 3D face recognition camera for use in authenticating individuals accessing a computer. Bioscrypt’s VisionAccess 3D DeskCam performs both verification and identification. It accommodates varying poses of the head, to provide a non-contact method of authentication with a high level of accuracy.
The hands free authentication solution doesn’t require users to remember passwords, tokens or cards to log on to their computer. Integrated with Bioscrypt VeriSoft Single Sign On, authentication with the camera can automatically initiate logon to networks, websites, or applications on your desktop. The support extends to 3D face for IT security.
It looks for 40,000 identification points to verify authenticity, claiming to be capable of accounting for facial hair, and being able to distinguish between identical twins.
The 3D DeskCam is 3 inches tall and a half inch wide. The camera connects via a single USB interface to a PC or laptop, and provides sub-second authentication using advanced 3D facial surface recognition. It’s scheduled to be shipping in the second half of 2007.
Biscript also touts a VisionAccess 3D Face Reader allowing for rapid authentication in under one second. It’s comprised of a real-time 3D surface scanner working in invisible near-infrared light which can be used for both identification and verification. The reader is used for strengthening security at corporate buildings, banks, hospitals, airports and other types of entry points.
