Worlds Shortest Man and Who in Japan
Welcome back!
A slightly misleading special aired on October 10th on Fuji TV that was billed as the World’s Shortest and Tallest Living Humans in Japan featuring He Pingping of Bao Chifeng in Wulanchabu city, Inner Mongolia, and a man by the name of Chao.

At 29.2 inches (73 centimeters) in height, 19 year old He Pingping isn’t actually the official Shortest Man in the World — he has applied to the Guinness Book of Records for the title. The current crowning record holder is none other than Lin Yih-Chih measuring 27 inches (67.5 centimeters) tall.
With nothing to go by other than the single name Chao and his height of 8 feet (240 centimeters), Chao appears as a ghost, as I could not find any information leading to him. Nonetheless, Chao is 5 inches shy of the current record holder for World’s Tallest Man, Ukrainian Leonid Stadnyk who stands 8 feet 5 inches (252.5 centimeters) tall.

If you really want to stretch it, the pair could be perceived as the shortest and tallest men in JAPAN, as they toured the countryside together.
In spite of everything, it still makes for a captivating story …
The ever-adorable He is introduced to one of Japan’s ‘living freak shows,’ super eating machine queen Gal Sone, as she feasts on 6.16 pounds (2.8 kilos) of food in one sitting, contrasted by He Pingping’s fully clothed body weight of 15.7 pounds (7.14 kilos).
He looks on in stunned disbelief as Gal Stone speedily consumes the massive bowl of noodles. The camera He uses to capture a photo of the bizarre scene is nearly half his size.

Howdy Deb, it is possible (but I’m not 100% sure by the picture) that the tall fella is Bao Xishun. Both him and He Pingping come from Inner Mongolia. The Japanese show had poor translation aspects and billed these two men as from Japan. He Ping ping is a Chinese name. As well as “Chao” or Bao Xishun. I believe this is a translation error on the shows part. This might explain why “Chao” is a “ghost” as for information. Bao Xishun has tons of information on the web about him. In fact, a chinese aquarium used his unique arm length to pull a plastic obstruction from a dolphins inner stomach. Thus saving the animals life. The Chinese official news service says his stature is due to rheumatism, however I happen to personally know the his enormous height is due to a tumor in his pituitary gland in the brain. He has received treatment for it. I think he now lives just down the road from me in Chongqing. Just thought I’d clear up the confusion. And seeing that I remember nearly everything I see, this info just popped out front.
By the way, Inner Mongolia is in China. I forgot to add that in my previous comment.
hi Deborah
it is a captivating story and the photos are so endearing..
this reminds ma that I shall have to get around to nominating Charlotte for the youngest mural painter in the world …the boy who holds the record is actually older than her and lives in Canada….he helped his father with the murals at Chemanius……
James, the Japan Probe was the source for this story. I’ve credited the photos to them, the videos are self-explanatory with the logos on them, and I’ve linked to them. I spent several hours researching what I could find and wrote this post. Often times blogs have copied my content word for word if I do not write the copyright at the bottom.
Hi Nitropupppy
Yes, I know who Bao Xishun is, and wrote about him and He Pingping previously, including the story about Bao Xishun saving the life of the dolphin at the aquarium. The link to the story is at the bottom of the post, first one.
I don’t think this man named Chao and Bao Xishun are one and the same. If you watch the second video, the man looks much younger, and his face is fuller. But the images captured aren’t very clear, with the station’s logo that took the videos appearing over his face through most of it.
Funny, that’s the same thing that has affected Leonid Stadnyk for his height growth spurts as well, a tumor in his pituitary gland in the brain who was crowned with the current title for world’s tallest man. Fo you ever see Bao Xishun about town?
And yes, He Pingping and Bao Xishun both come from China.
But He Ping ping and ‘Chao’ toured around Japan together. The second video was taken in Shibuya, apparently a trendy shopping and entertainment district situated in the west of Tokyo.
Kim, that’s an excellent idea! Imagine the exposure she could receive for her artwork!
Though he is smallest man in the world, but known to everyone. It is not less anything exceptional.
He Ping Ping is truly a remarkable young man College
Japan is the luckiest county who possesses such kind of exceptional thing. I wish all the best!
Judging by the reactions to those in the videos, it seems that Japan was quite thrilled with their visit

Hello. I am from Chile. I would like to know what syndrome He Ping Ping has. I have a bay that was born, and they (I guess the doctors) say that it is possiblt carrying Seckel (a form of dwarfism). I would like to know any responses from you all.
Blessings from Vina del Mar ( I think that means Vine of the Sea…wouldn’t that be seaweed???) =D , Chile

thats cool
It looks like He Ping Ping is afflicted with Primordial Dwarfism. Unlike other types of dwarfism, Primodial dwarfs are proportioned from head to toe, including limbs, hands, and trunk. They all seem to have similar facial features like a prominent nose. There are only a few in the world, maybe less than 200. You can do a Google search for more information.
omg you are so cool for being small i wish i was short
Hello Deb,
I read you said they are both from China, but they are not. They are from Mongolia
.
