YOU Can Become a Star Blogger

If you’re a new blogger in the realm of more than 17 million blogs in the blogosphere, it can be quite a daunting undertaking to gain some exposure to your site — even if you aren’t new to the culture. You will need to participate in many of the online social sites. Photo Mr. Freek
Millions of people are spending more and more time on the internet than they do watching their own television. Many of the social sites such as Technorati function not only as a social site, but as a search engine where people come to find blogs in their field of interest. If you have a blog, you will definitely want to have your site listed there where you will gain exposure.
But don’t limit your vision to merely reaching internet users in general. Bloggers do read other blogs — in fact many of us are addicted to it. Reach out to other bloggers by commenting on their sites, as well as making friends with bloggers on the social sites.
There’s a new site that’s taking the blogosphere by storm with a competition to become 1 of 9 Top A-List bloggers at Blogging to Fame. Not only is the prestige of the title incentive enough to want to get in on the action, but there are great cash rewards as well:
1st Place — $25,000
2nd Place – 3 awards of $10,000
3rd Place – 5 rewards of $5,000
The competition is open to blogs that are at least 1 month old with a minimum of 10 quality posts, and no older than 3 years. The purpose of the competition is to bring limelight and recognition to the many new blogs that don’t yet have the rank in search engines to compete with those that do. It’s also an excellent site in which to reach more bloggers with potential to become new readers.
First you will need to register, and then check out the rules and regulations for the competition.
Once you have registered, you will need to list your blog, and then ‘Nominate’ your own blog. You are the only one that can do this, based upon the regulations. Click on ‘My Profile’ from the home page, and then the ‘Nominate’ link near the top of the window.
Once you have done this, you will be able to receive votes for Fame, but not until you’ve done so. You can list up to 3 blogs.
You will also be able to add widgets to your blog to help promote yourself for Fames.
How to Participate Once You are Registered:
There are 2 categories to be Famed by, which many do not realize. One is for yourself as a blogger in the ‘Members‘ section, the other for your blogs under the ‘Live Ratings‘, which can be accessed from the Home page.
Members Category
Click on ‘Members’ from the Home page near the top of the window. You will see all active members listed in the competition for bloggers as an individual.
From there, you can click on the link for ‘View Profile’ to show more information and vote, or vote for the blogger by clicking the Fame Me! button to the right.
Clicking the link for View Profile will display all of the blogs that a member has listed in the competition, and contact info if the member has displayed their email address as public.
You will also be able to see who has famed the blogger under ‘Who Famed Me’, as well as how friendly the blogger is directly beneath that for ‘Blogger Famed by Me’.
You can vote for all blogs from this area, as well as from the ‘Live Ratings’ category by clicking the ‘Fame It!’ button, and then click the button again from the new window to confirm your vote. If you plan to Fame the blogger as well as the blogs, I recommend that you Fame the blogs first before Faming the blogger. If you fail to do so and Fame the blogger first, the window will not be accessible again, as the vote has bumped the rating up in the Members section. You can however click the infamous ‘back button’ to return.
You can vote for the blogger by clicking the ‘Fame Me!’ button, which will likely have to be repeated again to confirm your vote.
Live Ratings Category
Click on ‘Live Ratings’ from the Home page near the top of the window for the listings of blogs. Once there, you will see all active blogs listed in the event.
You can click on ‘View Details’ from this window, or Fame the blog from here by clicking the Fame It! button, and then click the button again from the new window to confirm your vote.
Clicking on the View Details link will display the Author of the blog, the category niche it falls into, who famed the blog, and any messages left for the blog.
Once clicking on View Details you can view the profile for the blogger from ‘View Profile’ link, which will bring you to the same window for the Profile of the blogger as a Member, as displayed in the Members category above.
Selection Criteria
There will be an ongoing process for 10 weeks from June 17 2007 onwards. 50 blogs will be selected each week through to August 27 2007, to move forward to the final competition. The first group of 50 blogs will be announced June 25th. If you aren’t selected in the first week, not to worry, as there are 9 weeks following from which to be selected.
Selection will be based on the number of fames you receive as well as the quality of your blog.
After 10 weeks, there will be a total of 500 selected blogs which will compete for the awards.
5 Jury members will take on 100 blogs each from which to select 5 blogs per week per Jury member for their ‘Hot Picks’. These ‘Hot Picks’ will appear under each Jury member’s Hot Pic pages to highlight the blogs. The process will run for 5 weeks from September 10 through to October 7 2007.
Jury members will provide tips to these bloggers to help improve their blog and writing skills, located on the Blogging to Fame Tips page.
Faming for these blogs will continue up to October 31, when the top 20 most famed blogs will be announced.
On November 4 2007, the Jury will select 4 winning blogs from the Top 20, based on overall quality of the blog and the author’s writing style. These 4 blogs will be announced on the Blogging to Fame website.
Tickets and reservations will be provided by Blogging to Fame for the final 4 to Chicago. The Super Blogger winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Chicago.
But, that’s not all!
Blogging to Fame doesn’t want to just hand you a Blogging Trophy and be done with you. Aside from the cash rewards, the winner will receive a free consultation and blog re-launch from Blogging to Fame, for which they will help you to utilize the Fame you receive and improve your business.
If you decide to list yourself and your blog or blogs on Blogging to Fame and wish to send a vote my way, be rest assured that I will Fame you right back!

Yes, there are more than 70 million blogs, but from what I’ve read from statistics, there are only approximately 17 million that are currently active.

this is a fun little way of knowing a whole lot of blogs BUT I do find there is a flaw in that there is no criteria to fame someone..

I believe the one criteria is that you must have a blog listed to receive fames, and you must have nominated it yourself to verify you’re the author.
That’s one of the side benefits of taking part in a competiton like this, you meet other bloggers and find sites that you never would have otherwise.
